Abstract

Modern challenges in urban development of Astana, including population density, traffic load and shortage of educational institutions, require new models of residential complexes. Today, the integrated and attached areas in residential complexes are mainly used for commerce and short-term services – shops, salons, small offices. It creates an excessive concentration of similar functions and does not meet the long-term needs of residents. Instead, it is possible to reorient a significant part of such areas to educational blocks of preschool, primary and secondary education. Such redistribution will ensure the walking accessibility of educational spaces, reduce the load on the transport and pedestrian network, increase the user capacity of urban areas, and at the same time increase the social value of residential buildings.
