Architectural theory works out new approaches. The program article by Larisa Kopylova shows how architects of New Urbanism responded to the challenges of modern civilization: post-industrialism, ecological crisis, the destruction of historic cities, and gives an aesthetic assessment of the role of order and vernacular architecture in the modern traditional city. The reader will find examples of historicism in national schools of the USA, England, France, Italy and Holland.
Meanwhile, the level of theoretical and practical experience in the Near and Middle East is growing. A selection of articles by authors from Jordan focuses on several aspects of this ancient culture.
The article by authors from Kazakhstan and Great Britain provides a unique viewpoint on the situation in the British city of Cardiff in terms of perceptions of social equity and inclusive urban public realm. It has something in common with another article that reminds of the basic legislative relations between the inhabitants of the city, which date back to Ancient Rome.
A dialogue, joint creation and mutual enrichment of regions are the most promising ways of developing architecture and urbanism today and tomorrow.
