Abstract

Using the example of areas with historical wooden buildings, the article considers preservation of the identity of historical cities in Russia. It gives an analysis of the spatial composition of the historical and architectural environment of Tomsk. It is shown that scientifically substantiating the principles of developing urban areas with estate buildings will enable a shift from targeted restoration of buildings to comprehensive management of the identity of urban environment.
