Abstract

The article analyzes projects for the preservation of local colour in modern urban space, which were proposed for various cities in Europe, Asia and America. The theoretical and methodological basis of successful color solutions is discussed. The author assesses the economic, political, and environmental risk factors essential for the preservation of the chromatic landscape. The author also determines the specifics of understanding the structure and physical nature of the local color. The spatiality and mobility of local coloristics, the concept of the light identity of a place, and the concept of sustainable color are also important for discussion.
