Traditional celebration rituals transform the city for these few “leisure days”, while squares, streets and buildings do not change. Official celebrations depend on the ideology: if one ideology replaces another, cities are reconstructed, old temples and monuments are demolished and new ones appear to organize new celebration rituals. The ritual space acquires new spatial qualities and symbols, which are supposed to live long.
